Nothing changes if nothing changes
I'm new here. I've really been struggling with alcohol addiction the past 6-7 years. After having a rough Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I decided this morning that I'm done forever. I will never drink again.
I truly have a problem and have found that alcohol is negatively affecting my health, family, friends, money, and job. Nothing good has come from it over the past several years.
At the same time I feel grateful to still have my wife and kids and a good job. I feel like I need to do something today or else all of that could change.
Not much more to say at this point. I'm considering this the first day of the rest of my sober life and look forward to meeting some new sober online friends.

Welcome!
I'm glad to hear you're willing to start a new life sober. It's been 33 days for me, and if this alcoholic can do it, you can too!
Use any sober tools you can posting here, AA whatever you choose. Just don't have that first drink.
Nice to meet you, and best wishes,
Ghost

Thanks to all for the support. You have no idea how much it means to know that I'm not going at this alone (or wait, maybe you do
I'm heading into day 2. I had a real tough time sleeping last night. I would sleep lightly for about an hour and then wake up with my mind racing. I got up and watched TV from 1:30am to 4:00am knowing that this is something that I'm just going to have to deal with in the meantime. I know that eventually my sleep, diet, and exercise will return to normal, healthy levels.
