Feeling Good!
Okay, I'm driving home and it's been a hell of a day. So, I think to myself, 'if I was a drinker, tonight would be an excellent night to do it'.
Now....first of all....all good alcoholics know Every night is made for drinking.
Second of all.....I acutally said to myself, "IF I WAS a DRINKER". It's like I may have finally turned another corner. Not once did I wish I could drink...I was just musing to permanently undrinking self.
Does that make absolutely no sense to anyone but me?
I just love it when I admit on a public forum that I talk to myself.

I understand that completely. When talking with some people who know little about recovery I tend to say "I was an alcoholic" rather than "I am an alcoholic". I know I'm still an alcoholic. But to the civilians, I'm an ex-alcoholic. It keeps it simple. Still feels weird saying it tho.

Good to hear it... flipping through the posts, I seen this one... the title jumped out at me.
I'm feeling good too.
And I don't drink (boy is *that* strange for me to type, let alone say) either. Agreed it's a simple twist of phrase, but when it comes natural... yeah, I think you're on to something.
Mind first, the rest will follow?
Take care,
TB

I talk to my dogs. They like having a sober mommy cause I take proper care of them all the time and never pass out and forget to feed them or something like that. So, you're not alone in talking to yourself. I do it all the time.

Thanks coffee.
This is a great post.
I am finding myself calling myself a non drinker also.
I also talk to myself and I usually do it out loud while walking down the street.
Thanks to blue tooth people don't think you are totally insane anymore and give you the weird "he's insane" look.
I kinda miss that sometimes. no use being a little wacko if nobody notices. :rotfxko

I relate to that 100% Coffeenut!!!!
I frequently think and also talk about how I would have handled situations in my pre-sobriety days.
Keeps it healthy IMO. I am a totally different person in recovery to what I was when I was drinking/drugging.
