Day 16 and still feeling good about it!!
There was a neighborhood gathering on Friday to eat Mexican food and the email said BYOB.....I laughed at DH as he filled a cooler with soda's.......He reminded me that a cooler was for more then just alcohol! LoL!! I am sooooo happy to have his support!!
I felt fine while I was there, I didn't have any cravings for alcohol but I would watch each person turn their many, many beers up.....and I would flash back to a disappointing memory of my own each time! I realized how silly it was in the past to drink as many beers possible in those 2-3 hours......I heard folks complaining about how expensive the booze is here......I also realized that those folks were more interesting when I was drinking.....just cuz we live overseas and our husbands work together doesn't mean we have to hang out! LoL!!! Mental Note: It is OK to decline an invitation in the future!
As I put an X on day 15 of the calendar this morning and begin day 16, DH husbands says "It looks like your gonna need some more calendars cuz I believe your done with drinking for good"!! I agree!!
I am grateful to be sober today and I wish each of you enough!

Well done on identifying the many uses of coolers (and refrigerators for that matter). Also, I identify about the expat life and hanging with people that you wouldn't give a second thought to at home. A hard drinking group, expats!
Keep doing what you are doing.

Congratulations on 16 days inside out.
The first few weeks are the hardest and that first social outing where everyone is drinking was an eye opener to me too.
The loudness, the repetitiveness, same old jokes you have heard 100 times, the discussions that get out of hand, etc.
These are things I no longer look forward to but when I was drinking I was in the front of the line.
Keep marking that calendar.

Congrats! 16 days, one day at a time ~
I read a post earlier that I identified with about how I drank...
"I ain't leavin' till I'm heavin'
Soooo glad those days are behind me -- especially with Mexican food!
Way to go in maintaining your sobriety in a fiesta setting!
