Game
I am either "in" the game or "out" of the game.
This is how I refer to my drinking/sobriety.
I am out of the game and have been for nearly 5 months now. Simply put to take one alcoholic drink would put me back in the game. By never taking that first alcoholic drink means that I never get back in the game and thus it doesn't bother me whatsoever.
I am surrounded by booze where I work ironically and it doesn't bother me at all. The reason being that I ain't in that game anymore. If I was to take a drink then all of that would change in an instant and I would be back in the game again and all of that readily available, legal and cheap booze in which I walk on by when I go shopping at the supermarket or choose not to order at the bar would suddenly be right there for the taking again.
It is such a simple thing yet so many will never grasp it. It is the first drink that does ALL the damage. That first drink means that you are back in the game again and so you have zero-chance of staying away from that next drink and drink being back and a part of your life again.
I choose to not be in the game anymore on a daily basis.
