Step aside, speed your ride...

If you live in NYC and ride the subway, you will see posters all over that say "step aside, speed your ride." This means nothing more than standing off to the side to let people off the train before you get on. This obviously makes getting to where you are going faster because people are not running into each other getting on and off the train.

I was thinking of this saying on the train the other day and how it applies to recovering codies. If we step aside and stop trying to control the addict, we speed our ride to happiness, peace and serenity in our own lives. It's an easy phrase to remember, so when we all feel the need to step in and try to control the addict or others, we can quickly remind ourselves that stepping aside will speed OUR ride.

Just thought I would share : )

That is Awesome!

I really like short phrases that are based in positive thinking and reinforcement. They stay with me and are easy to recall when my brain is spinning from one crisis or another.

Thank you for sharing this!
