How do I get mashed potatoes out of the keys of my keyboard?

Maybe a vacuum cleaner, lol.

hi vicious -

yes.

I wouldn't worry about it this early into your recovery, though.

have you been to the doc yet?

I say that because,
many find after stopping drinking
they're anemic
or have some other kind of imbalance
that the drinking
pushed out of sight.

And now that you're not drinking
those other things
will come forward.

There *is* some specific anemia
that accompanies alcoholism
I had it when I got sober -
but can't remember the name of it now.

I noticed that food just ... HAD a taste.

LOL!

Barb, I have had a full blood series done recently, while drinking............I was ok on everything except for vit.D............kinda curious on that one. Thanks for the tip.

Going back into my Ghirardelli milk choc and caramel bar..........boy oh boy are these GOOD!!!!!!!!

When I first got sober I ate everything is sight and gained weight initially. My body was starving since I rarely ate when I was drinking. The good part is my appetite returned to normal and my weight returned to normal.

I did try to eat healthy foods though.

Congrats on your sobriety!!

I usually eat pretty healthy, but since I quit drinking I've been craving my comfort foods which are not all that healthy. I think mentally for me it's "well I can't drink so I'm going to eat something that's not good for me." Almost like trading one vice for another. I'm only on Day 13 so I'm hoping that I will get back to my normal eating habits soon. I have dropped about 3 lbs. in the 2 weeks that I haven't been drinking so that's a little motivation too

Ya I have been craving tons of sugary foods, drinks, and comfort foods. I am staying hydrated and incorporating salads here and there. I'm on day 19 goodluck with your sobriety!

VC how much time do you spend in sunlight? The reason I ask is because one needs sunlight to absorb vitamin D. My appetite was all about sweets, especially chocolates when I first got sober.

Vicious, I am on day 85 and have been up and down on the weight thing all along. Food preparation has always been a pleasurable avocation for me when I am sober. I actually practiced the south beach thing for about 6 wks this time and really dropped some excess while thoroughly enjoying the recipes provided. I believe that food and weight gain/loss is something that we all go through when we first remove ourselves from the poison that we chose. I think it is normal, but consider the source. Don't sweat the small stuff...and everything is small stuff except your recovery. John in Oklahoma

Hey Taz......

The crazy thing about the vitamin D is I work outside! So sunlight, you bet........strange.

The sweets make sense because of taking the alcohol away........

Maybe a little more time at the gym..........I typed gum first, see what I mean? Candy!

Taz, no but I have some and I will recheck the blood in a couple months......when I was drinking hard, I was not taking anything, I did not really care...........so now I am starting them up and like I said, will recheck after awhile.

Funny, I have one thread rolling on eating like a pig and another on food! LOL.......

Hi VC.....

Yes., I too had a ravenous appetite once I quit.

I also looked at how many calories I consumed while drinking (gulp), and realized I really wasn't consuming much more when eating, they just weren't liquid calories.

I felt better eating like a pig...rather then drinking like a fish, hahaha.
