Thumbs up TOPIC: It's So Easy A Cave Man Can Do It.!

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

Let's Go Shopping......

Men shopping for sporting equipe-
ment. Women for groceries, clothes.

So many choices, right? Every brand
you can imagine. Our heads spin
round and round and decisions have
to be made.

Which one is best to suit our needs???

How about Shopping for a recovery
program? Which one do u chose?

If u have a drinking problem then which
program do u chose from?

If you have a drug program then which
program do u chose from?

It's So Easy A Cave Man Can Do It..!

You as an Alcoholic have ONE Choice
which is AA. And A drug addict is NA.

You dont have to try it on for size. You
dont have to decide on the many brands
available to you because there is only
ONE.

How easy is that. Just think about it.

Get in the car and go to ur local Sonic
and imagine looking at the menu for
recovery.

You dont see AA with or w/out fries,
right? Or NA super sized...lol

AA and NA come as is with a 12 step
program to follow on a daily bases to
help u stay clean and sober one day
at a time.

No fluff, no charges, it fits right in ur life
easily and it's a life time warranty guaranteed
if you follow the suggestions included.

Like I said....It's so easy a cave man can
do it..!

I must say I disagree with your statement above. THere are lots of ways to recover from alcoholism or drug addiction. There are other programs of recovery and there are people who recover without using a 'program' of any kind. Some people use counseling, some use reading. There are many ways to recover.

AA is a wonderful program that has helped millions of people, but it's not the only way and it's not for everyone. One size doesn't fit all, in this case. I don't go to many meetings but I have a sponsor and am working the steps. I also see an addiction counselor once a week and I also get a lot of support from SR.

There are many ways to recover from alcoholism and drug addiction.

A program of recovery requires all that
has been shared above. Reading, sharing,
talking, caring, meetings. No one works
the same program but it is a program of
recovery with the same principles.

Alcoholics Anonymous Program ?
Narcotics Anonymous Program?
Kelloge's Program?
Heinze Program?
Hane's Program?
Coca Cola Program?
Burger King Program?

Which program has principles set
down before us over the yrs to
follow and hasnt changed to help
us stay clean or sober?

Lets not make this into another one of *those* threads, guys.
We're all on the same side here - lets keep celebrating our recovery, however we got there.

Sharon.....sweetheart...........you must just love being in the crosshairs...lol.

i bet when dee saw that he must of said to himself...""oh ****..another late night".....as he hovers above the delete button....lol..lol...lol...lol.

The fact is ...AA and NA is not the only way to get and stay sober...
coming to sr over about a year......i realize more and more that some use other methods and programmes.

i got and stayed sober because of the rigorous work i did with my sponsor and the 12 steps.

i found a freedom beyond my comprehension......a totally different perception of life.....
but im not closeminded enough to think that that way is the only way..
im sure you dont mean it that way.....but it sure reads that way.

Ur right guys there is "ways" to get sober
as many of u know. Reading liturature,
talking to others whether a friend, doctor,
minister. What is great is that we all have
some sort of program to follow in recovery
that works for them.

It is easy to find what u need to help ur-
self and that's great.

Whatever works for u like it has for me
is awesome.

No feuding here guys, because u r my
online recovery family.

I was thinking this afternoon when i
came to post that im glad that having
few easy choices or few choices offered
to us in recovery is so much better than
going shopping and having to chose
from all types or kinds of "pizza" brands
they have out there for us to chose from.

If that makes sense.

I would never look down on you for what
ever program u have working for u helping
u stay clean or sober.

Everyday sober or clean is a miracle.

Love u guys..

Actually sorry to split hairs here, but I have often gone to NA with my addict friends instead of AA. They consider alcohol a drug.
