SR Questions
SR Questions
1) Is there such a thing as an SR-Alanon sponsor?
2) Are there chat rooms on this site for Alanon-ers? I've seen a bunch for AA'ers, but can't find any for AlAnon.
3) Same thing for AlAnon meetings... are there any AlAnon meetings on SR? I can't find them.
Thanks!

Hi there tiger11
Nope. SR is _not_ a recovery program. It's a place to get _support_ in your recovery, especially for people who live in isolated areas, have unusual medical conditions, or have difficutly reaching support in person for whatever reason.
People who live in isolated areas will sometimes get a "telephone sponsor". Somebody from a nearby town or city with whom they meet once a month or so. Online sponsorship is extremely difficult because you can't see the other person's body language, hear their tone of voice, and they can't see yours.
Chat has been very sparsely attended here. We have tens of thousands of forum members, but only a few dozen chat members. Different websites attract different folks and SR has never been very strong in the chat area. You might want to try
Alanon, Al-Anon, Online Meetings, Support Group, Chat
they are strictly al-anon and have a _great_ chat system, including online meetings. They focus on just that and do it very well. We focus on forums and do that very well. In the 12 step programs that's called "singleness of purpose".
