Just wanted to report that I got through the weekend.
This is a big step for me as I'm in the early stages of getting sober. I'VE choosen to drink, usually every 6 - 7 days over the last few weeks and that has mostly happened on the weekends (some of which were really scary).
Not this one.
Over the last 5 - 6 weeks, I've attending about 30 AA meetings, got a sponsor, and we've begun to work step 1. ...but I continued to "slip" about once a week.
Last night I was around drinking and I was ok without. I felt strange, I felt uncomfortable at times, but I didn't want to drink.
I'm hopeful I can build on this. Thanks.

Have you tried calling your sponsor before taking that first drink? Have you tried praying to a power greater than yourself help you to stay sober? Have you tried staying away from people, places, and things thought could harm your recovery? Have you tried reading from the Big Book when that desire to drink comes upon you?

I feel I'm moving in the right direction though. Thanks for this reply.
Congrats on not drinking this weekend, I know in early sobriety for me I found the road far smoother avoiding places where there was going to be folks drinking. I had about 3 months sober when I went to my first pro football game, tons of booze around, but I was with non-drinking friends and was pleasantly surprised to notice that the majority of folks at the game were drinking coffee, hot chocolate and sodas. WHen I was drinking I really thought every person at a game was slamming one beer after another just like I was!
Funny how once I took my beer goggles off I could see reality!
Does your sponsor urge you to test your early sobriety by going around folks drinking?
I can tell you that for some time now I am not even tempted when folks drink around me, but in early sobriety I would have been aching to join them.
