Hi I have never been on a site like this so am a bit nervous. I am in a relationship with a heavy drinker and finding it hard to deal with this situation at the moment. Just wanted to say hi and thank you for being there.

I'm glad you found us.

I'm sure the situation is difficult for you, and I wonder if you have considered seeking help for yourself at AlAnon.

Hi, thank you for your post. I have been to a couple of al anon sessions which are helpful and I will definitely look up the family sites.

Hi summer. I've been where you are now, many years ago. It's a desperate feeling - trying to help and protect the person. I was so good at being an enabler - didn't know I was doing all the wrong things. I never knew about Al-Anon back then, & I think it might've made all the difference to my husband & I. We had a tragic ending, since I could not go down with the ship and he never acknowledged what he was doing to himself and us.
