day8
Hey friends,
I am currently on day 8 of being sober after 12 years of binge drinking and I have some questions because I am really worried at the moment!!!
My anxiety and foggy head seem to be getting worst the last few days... is this normal??
Day 3,4,5 i was fine and happy but the last few days i feel like I have made a turn for the worst and I would just like a reassurance that this is normal so that i can stop worrying.
Any advive /help would be greatly appreciated!!
Dan

yes it is,, but it kicked in for me after day 3, im on day 13 now, hang in there itll pass, i went to see a natropath because when i was drinking i suffered real real real bad anxiety like i was gonna die ****,, but she told me that most alcoholics are deficient in magnesium so she put me on it and i am so much better with the anxiety now,,,, im not suggesting you go out and buy some magnesium, but do go and see a natropath or gp or something... and good on you for making a start to a new life....

yep good stuff do it,, i take it in powder form in juice,, it doesnt taste to bad either....
Were you honest with your doctor about your alcohol use? I'm very surprised that any doctor would prescribe atavan to someone in recovery.
That bring said, I was given benzodiazipines as part of my inpatient detox protocol under 24-hour medical supervision, and yea, I was hella foggy.

Congratulations on day 8!
Every detox is different--from personal experience. In different people, it's bound to have even more variations, so I wouldn't worry about the anxiety too much right now. You're seeing a counselor, right? Keep them up to date on that. Plus, if your last ativan is tomorrow, you've probably been slowly coming off of them, which means you're body/mind is being less numbed and more exposed to the reality that it's gonna have to deal with.
I had a similar thing my last few days of the benzos they gave me.
Take care,
TB

Well done on your new sobriety
Hi dan! Don't be discouraged - I was all over the place, emotionally and physically, for about 6 mos. Everything straightened out & continues to improve. Good that you're under a doctor's care, though. Congratulatins on your new beginning.
Well, I'm on my way

Welcome to SR, a really great place to be!
My counselor said the foggy head, anxiety, etc, was VERY common. He also mentioned I might get the clumsies... yep. Some physical exercise is good for the anxiety. Congratulations on your decision and new life!

You may want to consider some exercise too. Many of us find it helpful with anxiety and depression.
I swear a good hour of exercise in sobriety is as effective as xanax... I'm not kidding!
