ABC's of gratitude

From today's Courage to Change (you'd think that this would have registered before now...I've been reading this book for years)

Start with A and think of what you are grateful for that starts with A, then B, then C, and so on.

I frequently do a gratitude list but I usually just put down 5 things...this took things to a whole new level and helped me to realize just how much I am grateful for. I did it in the shower this morning and it helped to start my day off in such a nice way!

Okay I'll go first, lol

I am grateful for Awareness, today I am fully aware of morning sunrises, evening sunsets, the birds out on the bay...all things I didn't notice when I was lost in my codependency.

Now who's next with "B?

I am grateful for my son "A****" who gives me purpose each day to strive to be a good mother and an example for him.

He is my guiding light right now.

I love this Lightseeker. I'm writing out my full list tonight.

Change

I am grateful for change. It brings a rebirth for me and hope for the future. Changecan seem both positive and negative, but it is always a learning experience.

Wonderful thread! Thank you for sharing this. I am a fan of listing 5 blessings and/or gratitudes everyday. This will be a great exercise for me.

Endings....

The good ones...

Ending the hurt
Ending the pain
Ending the manipulation
Ending the doubt
Ending the fear
Ending the drama
Ending the fighting
Ending the worry
Ending the deception
Ending the questions
Ending the sacrafices for nothing
Ending the belief and trust in false love

And the beginning of a good and honest life....

My blessing today is Fun.

Already this morning I have laughed until I cried over something hilarious. For years I don't think I even smiled, let alone laughed so hard I cried.

I have met a few people here in person and we meet about once a year and share our recovery, share our friendship and love, and most of all share our Fun.

Somehow recovery has let me put the Fun back in disfunctional.

"G" is for the Girls in my life. I love them all - daughters, sisters, nieces, mothers, friends, co-workers. Girls just need other girls in their lives. It would be way too quiet without them and way too masculine

I'm grateful for the "Hell" I've been through. Without it, I wouldn't have the perspective in knowing that whatever else gets thrown at me.... I WILL BE OKAY.

I

I am grateful for the inspiration of so many who have traveled this road in front of me that are inspiring me to continue in my recovery. Without the inspiring stories and support of the long time members in SR, AlAnon and NarAnon I would still be an emotional wreck, but they continue to inspire me to reach further and strive for finding myself.

Thank you to all!

K... Kinship and kindness....

I am grateful for all who have shared their stories and lives with me and helped me to understand I am not alone. The kinship and the beautiful kindness demonstrated has helped me to move forward every day.

O... is for opportunity. I am grateful for the opportunity to start anew. There were many, many times when I thought I would live in chaos and pain forever.... I am grateful that took the opportunity to start fresh.

P is for people (and peace). The people that I have met through the journey of recovery are all amazing. It never occurred to me that this whole world was "out there" and once I found it I realized that I would never ever be alone again.

S is for strength, in particular the INNER strength that I gained in fighting this battle against addiction.

T is for Truth, my own Truth, inner Truth if you will.

Discovering the person I am and what my beliefs, values and dreams are and knowing that I can be true to all of them.

My truth is what works for me, it's me being honest with myself about all things in my life. The truth shall set me free.
