Bummed out/pout/strugging with school.
Hi SR friends,
Well, I blew my second algebra exam today and lost 200 points because I couldn't complete the homework assignments and turn them in today. I'm so far behind I feel overwhelmed, angry and frustrated. So far, I've earned a big fat F for the semester, and that is a first for me. I've never done this poorly at school, but I can't seem to get it all together right now. I have 17 days today without a drink, but I sure want one tonight. I even went and bought a six pack, but I haven't touched it yet, cause I know that it really won't help. I'm doing ok in my other classes, but am failing the mark in algebra. I met with a tutor yesterday, went over some problems, only to come home and recalculate the problems and discover the answers were wrong. It's just been that kind of week.
Just am having a tough time right now and thought I'd post here to get some of it out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well get rid of the beer now!!
How is drinking going to help ? OK, so it's not going so great in algebra. You are trying... It's still early in the semester! Give yourself some credit, take a deep breath... Is it anxiety?

Dump the beer D. No arguments.
However bad you feel now you'll just feel worse tomorrow.
It might also be time to talk to a counsellor on campus and make a clean breast of all this, if you haven't already done so
Altho I had different problems then, I had a lot of support from what we call Student Services here when things got too much.

All other classes are okay. Algebra not so much.
Doesn't sound that bad to me.
I had courses like that in university (Econometrics? WTF is that? )
Get rid of the beer, keep working with the tutor. I'm betting it will all work out.

Thanks Mark,
I called a friend of mine, and told her about the beer, now she's on her way over. Guess I'll give it to her, or as you suggested, just dump it. Thanks for the help, my friend.

Hey..I am right with you on that school fear thing. And I havent even started yet.
But I agree. Dump that beer. ASAP!
Its just going to be staring at you until you do.
I really have no advice on the school stuff. Just do what you can. Try not to get too worked up over it or it will just stress you out more and you probably wont get anything done.
But if nothing else. Get rid of that dang beer!!
Hang in there.

Econometrics, is that a real class? I've never heard of it, sounds like a bad disease to me, lol.
Thanks you guys and gals. I'm not drinking tonight. Seventeen days is good, especially when I recall the hell of the first ten-twelve days. I'm only now feeling a little normal at times. The beer was just another waste of money, which I cannot afford, nor can I afford to lose any more brain cells, I only have a few as it is, lol.
Algebra, now that's my problem, so I think I'm going to study it with the intention of becoming a tutor myself. I can do this, just need a swift kick to the backside to stay focused. Anyone got a size twelve boot?

I have had to do what Gypsy Feet said. Drop a class. But if you do, do it in the time frame that you get a W. No shame in not being able to handle it all. Trying to stay sober is a big job.
