My mom has filed for divorce and the separation process has yet to begin. My dad has a court date that could possibly lead him to spending months or year in jail, and her lawyer said that will count as separation time. My dad is too stubborn and childish to leave voluntarily and my mom is looking for other options just in case he doesn't receive jail time. My mom just bought a house that we moved in before the divorce began and its in her name so she can't move out and still pay the bills...

Are there other options?

Your mom could speak to her lawyer about temporary orders that would give her exclusive rights to the home. This is what I did and was told if I 'win' that then he has to leave voluntarily or be escorted out by the police. That wouldn't have meant I'd get the house in the divorce settlement or anything - just that I'd get to live there (and he did not) until things were finalized.
