Happy birthday SR!!!
I believe yesterday (Sept. 15th) was the nine year aniversary of SoberRecovery.

This site has been a huge help to me over the years and continues to be to this day.
A big to all the mods, greeters, tech folks, and all the others that keep this site running every day!!

Almost 58,000 members, over a million and a half posts, all this is what has made SR what it is today. Yet it's still about one member reaching out to another that puts the magic in this fine site. May we never lose sight of why we are here, to find recovery or share our own with the newcomer yet to walk through that door.
Like many, I arrived here by accident almost 8 years ago, and truly believe that coincidence IS God's way of remaining anonymous, because SR has been instrumental in changing my life and making it worth living again.
All started by an addict named Jon, who had a computer and an idea that he believed in, and to whom I will be forever grateful.
And continued today by the Mulligan Group who we never see but who keep us up and running no matter what. I am so grateful to them for keeping us alive and well.
So, thank you members, for your inspiration, your hope, your support and your friendship that has made SR the best recovery family I've ever found.

Where would I be without SR? Well, I surely wouldn't have found the support and inter-friendship that I have.
I've met and spoke to some really great people around here. I've been able to host meetings from time to time, and I've been able to share my story and open up, even virtually, to people that know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.
So, here's to the Admin's, Mod's, Greeters, Chat Hosts and Monitors, and anyone else who helps a bunch of addicts like me find community.

Whatever happened 2 Jon, before this group took over...curious?
Carol, in my opinion, U said it the best.
Thanks SR, moderators, all SR staff, but mostly I thank each poster. Reading all the shares, different viewpoints keeps me strong.
2 all of U.

happy belated birthday to s.r.
this place is truly a lifesaver. this is my third time here and i hope 3rd time is the charm.
it all started in the spring of 08 and i was able to quit for 3 months then stupidly thought i could drink moderately. i did at first but then went back into the full blown vodka haze. quit again this spring for 2 months only to fall back into the self destructive routine.
thank god when i typed 'how to quit drinking' into google i found this place. i especially would like to thank people like anna who has been here every time i've come back. she's welcomed new folks every day with open arms. thank you and keep rockin' anna.

Ann your post brought tears to my eyes. I too sorta ended up here accidentally.
It was 2 weeks before my first ever attempt at getting clean. Hell I didnt even know what clean was or what recovery was before I found this place.
I seriously had never heard the word recovery in this sense before.
Out of almost 22 yrs of addiciton and 14 of those being hardcore, I never once thought about stopping. At least not for good.
I was sure to die an addict. Gee..I really never even heard the word addict much either. I just knew I did alot of drugs and I had no plans of slowing down.
Someone suggested to me to find a forum to occupy my time while I waited to go to treatment. And so here I am.
A little over 2 yrs later.
Alot wiser and alot more determined to live my life clean.
Without SR..I seriously doubt I would be where I am right now.
This place has kept me coming back and trying. All the people here. All the love, support, understanding and forgiveness that is shown here is absolutely phenominal.
I literally owe my life to SR and everyone here. Whether I know you or not. Whether I have heard of you or not.
There is some awesome work being done here. And I will forever be grateful for this wonderful place and people.
Thank you SR and to EVERYONE who make this possible.
