Hi brand new to this
I've got a really bad stimulant addiction and have since I was a kid. I got put on Ritalin when I was 6 and it's just been a downward spiral since then. Once my prescription got taken away at 15 I resorted to using coke and then meth to replace it. Then when I got the prescription back again I started using it as a way to get off the meth. Now I'm 24 and stuck in this cycle of going through my pills and then using something to replace it with. I'm ready to stop I'm exhausted and drained constantly. It's not even fun to be high anymore. I've turned into one of those crazy tweakers that carpet combs and obsessively cleans. I don't go out anymore and I'm failing all my classes at school. I can't do this. I havn't used since Thursday and aside from constant migraines and not being able to do anything but sleep I'm managing. I don't have insurance so that limits the resources I have but I plan to go to NA and I'm cutting a lot of people out of my life. So I'm doing what I can.
Therefore I'm really glad I found this place. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi CherryD
I'm an alcoholic, but I wanted to welcome you to SR anyway
I'm sure others will be along shortly with stories similar to yours
I think NA is a good start...we also have a substance abuse forum you may not have seen yet
Substance Abuse - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
I hope to see you around some more

Welcome, CherryD.
I'm not one of the ones Dee mentioned--I'm an alcoholic too--but aside from checking out the forum he suggested, I'd just add that you might stay around here some, reading and posting. There's a lot of support here, for what you might be facing day-to-day and the challenges of sobriety after being under the influence during all those (formative still) years.
Congratulations on the decision to get clean...
Best of luck & take care,
-TB

Hello & welcome to the Sober Recovery community.
Going to N.A. sounds like a great idea to help you stay clean.
Maybe you could pick up some pamplets & literature while there?
Don't forget to get a meeting list with lots of phone numbers on it!!
