Just saying Hi
Just saying Hi
Hoping to start detox on or around the 15th of September, my doc has prescribed Campral but I have to wait till payday to get it so I am supposed to gradually reduce my drinking and then do a home based detox. I am not overly keen on the home based detox as I don't like to have strangers in my home, but know the risks are to high to go it alone.
So hears hoping I can be sober in 8 days.
Thanks for reading.

AS the time passes it does not get easier, although the help sets in and the habits decrease and day by day becomes an easier transition. It is 100% your choice to work this thing, figure it out and conquor it. Good luck and you will do fine~
Hi Auschick
Always good to see another Aussie here
I dunno anything about a home detox like you're suggesting, but it's great you've got supervision.
As others have said, this is a great place for support and encouragement...welcome!

Hi Dee74,
I am in WA and the home detox is organised through the community drug service team, not exactly sure how it work's but Nurses visit daily and there is daily contact with your GP and counsellor, pretty sure it's medicated. I'm pretty desperate to give up the alcohol and find it impossible to stop at just a couple so the only option left is cold turkey.
Thanks again, these boards are the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.

Welcome Auschick!
I did pretty much what you're going to do--and I had planned it like that too, well the first time, gradually cutting down and then taking the pills prescribed to me. Here in California, we don't have anything close to the program you're describing, actually not much at all beyond a institutional county detox, shame really.
I truly hope it works out for you, and best of luck! I know about how staying here keeps a person sane, so stick around...

Welcome and good luck. I wish our healthcare system offered something similar. There is a lot of good support here, and also AA is what I personally use in my recovery. Please keep posting and let us know how it goes.
