Crawling out of my skin...
I have been crawling out of my skin pretty much all day... went to a meeting this morning, tried to work this afternoon, but the addict voice has been barking all day "You'll feel better after a bottle of wine."..."What's the big deal, drink tonight, no one will know and you can get back on track tomorrow." I've been oscillating between totally anxious and totally depressed every 5 minutes. It's excruciating. I'm fighting the best I can. I'm going to an AA meeting at 7 and hopefully it will put me in a tranquil enough place that I can get through the rest of the night. Been sober 6 days. How I feel today kinda took me by surprise...
OMG -- I know exactly how you feel. The meeting sounds like a great idea and depending on where you live 7PM should be pretty soon, right?
Hang in there. I'm trying to, too!!!
We both know we can do it even if it's a royal pain in the arse.

It is a sucky feeling. Have some ice cream. Work out. Nap. Go see a movie. Go to the meeting. Just don't drink today. Good luck.

"You'll feel better after a bottle of wine."
Yeah? Did you feel better after the last time you drank a bottle of wine?
It gets easier dealing with the disease's lies once you realize how ridiculous some of the lies actually are.

As sf girl said, just focus on today. If that's too much, then focus on the next hour. If that's too much......Well you get the drift. It's hard in the beginning and we've all been through it. Going to a meeting is an excellent idea. Get some phone numbers while you're there so you can call another alcoholic when the going gets tough. Helping one another is what AA's all about, so don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it. You can get through times like this. As an old alcoholic (well, older than me) I know says, it's easier to stay sober today than to get sober tomorrow.
