New and hoping to learn a lot from you guys! :)
Hello everyone!
I've been reading around these forums on and off for a while (mostly off - sticking to things is a problem for me!).
Hoping to find out information on "dry alcoholics" as I think I may be one.
All I know is I've been years sober and I'm not sure I'm happier for it.
I naively thought giving up drink was IT but it's only the beginning.....
Nice to meet you all.

Welcome Sybille!
I was a drinker, but don't know anything about long term sobriety.
Others can direct you better than I can, although I can say that it is mentioned--I have hit on several threads devoted to that.
Take care, and I hope you find what you are looking for. In life, I meant, but I guess here too.

Hi and welcome. I know what a dry drunk is but I have no experience being sober expect with the program of AA.
Are you looking at AA? There are lots of your UK brothers and sisters on this site, I am sure they will be along shortly.

Hi Sybille
Congratulations on your years sober - I once did 2 months just 'not drinking' and it nearly drove me mad...I was a miserable SOB too...I went back to drinking.
I dunno about you, but for me the difference this last time was I made sure I changed my life in other ways too - I figured it was more difficult to go backwards if I had a current life, and a current me, that I enjoyed and felt content in.
Welcome to SR - you'll find a lot of help and support here. I hope we can help you find some of the answers you're looking for

Hi Sybille,
I think you found a good place Sybille. I had many issues involving coping with life (rather, not coping with life) long before I began drinking. I was a control-freak, impatient, easily angered, and had no connection with myself. Drinking was a last-ditch effort to remain in control. Of course, that didn't work. So, when I stopped drinking, I definitely knew I had a lot of stuff to work on. You found a good place to get support.
