Hi Everyone

Dont really know where to start... except to say i finally realise i want to be free of addiction to wine.
In a nutshell; i started drinking regular when my only brother was murdered in the late 90's i drank to be able to sleep as a way of coping.

Hi,

Welcome to SR...

What a terrible tragedy you have experienced in your life...I can understand your wanting to self medicate your pain through drinking...It looks like you have realized that drinking to alleviate this emotional pain is not working...Good for you!

You can be free from the chains of addiction and live a meaningful peaceful life...

Keep posting, I am glad you found us...

Welcome to the family whitehorses. I am so sorry for the loss of your brother.

It's not weakness or a character defect, it's a disease. I had trouble buying that, but the more I learned it all made sense. I had no particular reason for diving into it the way I did over 25 yrs. ago - maybe to help with shyness or to fit in? All these years later I'm finally confronting the beast and winning the battle. I leave behind me a trail of destruction and chaos. Thankfully you see the light - some never do.

There'll be wiser people to come along and give you great advice - it's early on a Monday and I'm not real sharp quite yet. I'm so glad you found us and will join us on this journey towards a better life.

Welcome to SR Whitehorses, there is a solution to the pain, self hatred, etc., other then that found in the bottle. Far from easy at first, but if one is willing to go to any lengths to get and stay sober a solution can be found. You never HAVE to drink again.

It was okay to drink.

Things have just changed though and now it is time to stop.

Keep coming back here.

Some great advice here Whitehorses so I'll just say welcome

Addiction and weakness are not the same thing.

We all have inner strength - with determination, a commitment to not drinking, and the right support, you can do this
