I've not used anti depressants in about 15 years so using them in sobriety is not something I know anything about Robbo- I only know they don't work at all when you drink.

Go see your doctor and get his opinion, mate

My own ES&H and 'recommendation' would be to see the doctor, explain everything, and have little or no concern about what others' take.

This one is about YOU and your doctor.

Keep coming back.

In my experience, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with a trained psychologist specialising in anxiety is vital. I wouldn't recommend anti-depressant medication without CBT, they are complementary modalities.

Talk to your doctor and ask for a referral. General practitioners are just that, general. You'd go to a specialist for lung or endocrine problems, anxiety (and mental health) is just the same.

FWIW, I've been taking anti-depressant medication for 8 years.

Edited to add that you might get some benefit from checking out the 'Anxiety Disorders' section of the forums. Not saying you have one, but it might be useful none-the-less.

,
We drink to mask our fears, failures, so on.
Make that appointment.
Never and still do not take any medications, except OTC vitamins.
Drink the fountain of youth: H20, exercise, walk, etc...Just don't drink.
Stay strong.
