Hello
I am a newcomer to this site. I have been clean for 5 yrs Nov 1/09 but travel extensively for work - I have been relying on online support and literature for some time. (I am your average addict who practices half measures so I am happy to have found SR). Reading the threads will keep me going throughout my journey - thank you!

Hey, welcome and good work on your sobriety. Herenow is where I live unless I'm traveling to the past or future which I try not to do unless I get unmindful. Look forward to getting to know you and profit from you. Namaste
Hello and welcome to the SR community.
How many turning points did i come to and just stand there?
Not as many as 30 years ago, 30 months ago, or 30 days ago!
i am grateful to make spiritual progress in our ongoing recovery.
i look forward to hearing about what works for you on a daily basis.

Hi Wow Thanks to all my fellow addicts! Yes, my half measured thinking/doing is one of many shortcomings I deal with. I am the ultimate rationalizer. With the help and support of this program I have found a very different way of living and I try to be grateful everyday. I say TRY because I sometimes forget to take stock and forget to say "Thank You" to the Big Guy.
I have enjoyed your responses - wow, thanks again.

Half measures were explained to me in this way... Someone who continuously works "half a program" or someone who only surrenders partially or someone who isn't willing to be completely honest with themselves about their recovery (needs). I have this problem sometimes when life gets crazy busy. I let my recovery fall through the cracks which then causes me problems with everything else in my life. I am progressing which is all I can do - maybe someday I will achieve spiritual perfection but until then I continue to do the work.
Dear Herennow, (((hugs)))
A big large WELCOME to the SR Family! You've definately come to a great place and are among friends. CONGRATULATIONS!!! On nearly 5 years of being clean and sober. That is super amazing work and now with a little more support you'll be on top that Mountain Herennow!

Welcome and Congrats on Five years. "Half measures" have availed you something...5 years! As best I can figure out what ever works for the individual is what its all about. In five years I hope to have 5 years and that you have 10.
herenow you are so right, half measures do avail us NOTHING, but full measures do not give us perfection, please keep in mind we strive for spiritual progress, not perfection..... we are not Saints!
Are you moving forward?
