Day 4
Hi all,
i just joined this website today my 4th day of no boozing. I dont remember the last time i went 4 nights without a drink, it scares me to think that its possibly 5 years ago.
I suppose im not feeling too bad although i get a bit bugged out in the afternoons and start tapping my leg and squeezing the hell out of my hands.
I was hoping my sleeps would begin to be more satisfying but they are still pretty difficult. i actually got out of bed and started rambling to my girlfirend the other night apparently thats a bit worrying!
anyway, just though i would say hi to some likeminded people.

Hello and welcome to the SR community.
If you have a family doctor, this might be a good time
to give them a call & ask if you need help with detoxing.
Hang on and stay committed to your sobreiety every day!

Welcome shaby and congrats on what will now be 5 days.
The first couple of weeks is the hardest physically and you are well on your way.
I found the support here at SR really helpful in the early weeks and came and posted and read everyday. It helps you to keep vigilant in your quest.

thanks again all. Tazman in answer to your Q. no i have not checked out recovery, as i live in Germany and i dont know if they have them in english.
So yes i think i am through day five. Although i dont know if i have actually decided to stop for good, i was just going to be happy to have brocken the routine and got through the 4 day mark. I think posting here and reading ceertainly can help as it adds some credibility to the struggle.
i was not really sure if i am an alcoholic, i mean i was drinking on average 6 nights a week a bottle of wine but then it began to get out of hand when i quite smoking and suddenly found the hangovers were less severe and i could stretch to 1.5 bottles. the real awakening came when i was looking for a bottle of wine with the girlfriend in a supermarket and she asked which one i fancied and i was looking for the one with the
highest alcohol content, it clicked that that was not normal!
good night all

Shaby,
Welcome, from Arizona. Welcome to SR, lots and lots of ESH here. (Encouragement, strength and hope.) Thanks for sharing. This is a disease! It destroys lives like cancer and kills. Keep coming back, keep voicing your thoughts.
BTW, where in Germany are you? Just loved your beautiful country while serving in the Army in 1980's. What memories I have.....
