Thumbs up TOPIC: Lawn Frustrations While Sober. Aggrivation Who Needs Them?

Hi SR Family. Im Sharon and Im an
alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink TODAY
or since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

When i was little many of my
punishments were spend outside.
Banned from indoors and not
allowed to leave the yard, I learn
to do yard work in order to make
amends for things i had no idea
I did wrong.

I learned to manicure my parents
corner lot all by myself.

Back in the day all i had was a
mashetti (sp?) to edge. A regular
lawn mower and hands to pull
and rack. Lots of manual labor.

I married in 82 with most of my
25 yrs I continued manicuring my
lawn with help from alcohol to
reward myself for a FANTASIC
job well done in 5 to 6 hours.

I eventually got sober in 90 and
while living in Houston hired some
wonderful help for $25 every 2
weeks that took them 15 to 20
minutes. The best $25 dollars I
ever spent.

I divorced a few yrs ago and thought
I left the yard work frustrations
behind me. Well, i remarried just
recently and we have a lovely yd.
and house.

We both r in recovery and enjoy
life and having fun.

Well, im back to mowing the lawn
edging weedeating etc for exercise.

Yesterday I did well with mowing
and weedeating to an extent till the
darn thing began to act up.

Why dont they make weedeater
user friendly for women? Wuz up
with the spools and thread they
still use today?

I got so frustrated back when and
went thru a number of them destroy-
ing them. lol

I wore myself out with aggrivation
yesterday, then i thought
id try again today....FORGET IT.

The string keeps nipping at my ankles
drawing blood.... OUTCH... Yep..!

It's enough to make anyone drink
or go crazy.....

Why do i feel like this....well, i wanted
to finish my work yesterday and
not today. I wanted a finshed producted.
Emmaculate Yard. PERFECT.

Well, i didnt achieve it and now here
I am pouring my aggrivation out to my
SR family.

What's a good edger for women to
use today? Electric? Gas?

Im not gonna drink....cause i know
its not worth it. It will only add
fuel to the fire, right?

If you ask me, a good edger would be your husband! ONLY JOKING!!! I have found that electric would be easier but some may not have the power of the gas fueled ones.

By the way, Congrats on your sobriety. 1990 is one heck of an accomplishment.

Thanks. Much appreciated.

Just a bunch of One Days At
A Time collected together.

I was just thinking about how
yrs. sober is cool yet even
where Im at now, I cant be
fooled. You can have quanity
or number of yrs sober but if
dont have a firm solid foundation
then any little thing can come
to bite you in the tush.

Here i am doing ok and all it took
was lawn equipement to not
work the way i wanted them to,
which is perfect, and i nearly lost
it.

I saw a bird land on the edge
of the roof while i was cutting
the last little bit of the grass
yesterday, and tears almost
came over me as i spoke to it
in my heart saying how glad I
was to not be alone at that
moment and glad i was sober.

You see those lawn people
with their trailers and equipement.
Power tools with their little back
packs.

It doesnt take these fellers long to
get the job done. Right?

I dont want any fancy equipement. Ill
settle for one of those edgers they have.
A pole with a wheel on the end.

Where do u get one of them? lol

Isn't it GREAT to have these kinds of problems and think they're serious?

"Im not gonna drink....cause i know
its not worth it. It will only add
fuel to the fire, right?"

Yup.

Yep,,,as an alcoholic i sure can make mountains
out of mole hills.... ant hills.... lol

And yep my problems can end my world if
i didnt have a program to follow. Or a
wonderful support group here in SR.

I learned early on that there isnt a thing
in this world i have to face alone or
figure it out by myself.

There's always someone whose been there
done that before me that can share their
own experiences, strengths and hopes on
any given situation.

We are so fortunate to have some awesome
programs available to each of us to help
us and alievated the stress, strains, frustr-
ations, and aggrivations of everyday life.

TOPIC: We need to find aasharon90 some more topics, she's running out of material!

OK, seriously though, I had to leave my fiancee's lawnmower and my gas weedeater at our rental house so the renters could keep the yard clean. Now at the new house we have only a small patch of grass out front, maybe 15' x 20'. So I use her electric weedeater to edge and cut the grass. I HATE THAT FRIGGIN' THING!! Stupid line feeds itself, gets wrapped around the shaft, gets stuck inside the spool. Arrrrggghhhhh!!

Such luxury issues!
