Question finding friends

hi there

Hello and welcome to the SR community.

Finding friends here is as easy as reading some posts from those who
are sharing about their recovery and reaching out to them for help.

Same thing works very well in A.A. or N.A. meetings every day!

Hi Tessie - always someone here to talk too.
Maybe give our chat room a go too?

welcome to SR - hope to see you around some more!

Just poke around until you find someone with a story similar to yours. It's not hard to make friends here.

If you're worried about hanging too much on your Mac and in your room you may want face to face AA meetings where you can meet people and socialize, before after and attend special events. Otherwise there's lots of places besides your roo, library, bookstore, etc. just probably not bars and street corners. Opportunities will present themselves as you open up in sobriety. Keep posting back, it works.

Hi Tessie,

Welcome!

I think if you continue to read here, you will find members who you really relate to. There are lots of wonderful people here.

thanks (fitz) i have meetings with my psychiatrist every week and i'm thinking about starting AA soon.... plus i have super friends that come over sometimes.

i'm unsure if how i'm feeling is due to meds i'm on or if its just the norm with my body adjusting to being sober, it's only been three weeks.
complete lack of energy and motivation is the main reason for the semi stake out at home... and i get panic atttacks, pass out, or feel like i'm dreaming when i try to do things.... i'm not sure i remember what sober feels like-
currently i certainly don't feel it.... i guess it will take its time coming.

The Foggy, disoriented feeling is normal and your head will eventually clear. jump into your recovery with both feet and don't hold back. It will be the only thing that stands between you and a life of misery drinking.

hi Tessie

well all that sounds pretty normal according to what I experienced - but pls do see your dr if you're worried or have any questions at all, especially about meds.

This is a link to other peoples experience of detox here:

and this is a link to info on PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) which many of us seem to suffer from.

Our body and mind are healing - like you say, these things do take time
