Sad story

I don't know the policy on putting links up, but

Alcoholic, 22, Dies After Being Refused Life-Saving Liver Transplant | UK News | Sky News

I read about his guy two days ago on a completely different site (he was still alive then) and they were saying let him die, I will rip up my donor card rather then someone like him gets it (their liver).

I just feel so sad that non alcoholics just don't get it, this poor boy was 22, and wasn't even given the chance, he probablly didn't even know he was an alcoholic, I didn't at that age. Well he found out when he was in hospital, but it was to late, oh i just feel so sad about this lad. Probably more so cause of what I
read on a non alcoholic site, "normal" people have absolutely no idea, and are so mean, and they were debating whether he should get a liver or not, the majority was no,
i just don't know it's just sad that this poor lad is dead

Its a complicated issue for sure - all I know for certain is 22 is too damn young to die.

That is a sad story....it's horrible that people are mean about it.... and even tho I have been sober for closing in on two years, I can relate to both sides....as an alcoholic, if I had had terminal liver problems, of course I would have wanted a transplant, a "do-over". But, my dad needed a liver transplant a few years back, from a condition that he had no control over, and I would have been angry if he would have died waiting while a liver was given to an alcoholic, esp. one that hadn't had a decent amount of recovery behind him or her. Just my experience and feelings.

Thanks for sharing that story...lots of things to think about with that story.

Hmmm....
I think we all need to be organ donors so these tragic
happenings are fewer. I've been for many years.
