Just Joined SR , Hello
I have 83 days of sobriety but dreams and thoughts of using are always present. This has been the toughest thing I have done in my life. My drug of choice is Crack Cocaine and for the most part I am fine except once a week I have a strong urge, somedays i take the day off and relax and today i turned to SR to settle my mind.
WELCOME! I have found, lack of power is my dilemma.
I can't do this alone.
I must have a formal program of recovery.
By doing this, I have been clean & sober over 2,500 days.
I hope you will stick around and find your path!

Congratulations on 83 days. The urges, as you know, are just that and they will pass. Do whatever you need to get through those moments and before you know you will have as much sober time as 1dayatatime because that's all it is - "One day at a time."
Dear Fruit, (((((Hugs)))))
"Welcome to SR". You made a wonderful choice to join here too! I am clean now from alcohol but in the past I was as addicted to crack cocaine as one could ever be!
I got clean on my own though because I had NO MONEY LEFT and it is possible I tell you. I can understand the feelings coming once a week of wanting to use too. Eventually though, Fruit...they do subside into a few weeks, a month and then months in between. I found that even after many years I would dream (usually around the date I quit the stuff!) about using it. The dreams were SO frightening and horrid but in time they too will subside. As said already they are only cravings and they do pass.
Be strong, it can be done! Stick with the fine folks of SR and you will find it very helpful. Not sure if you have ever considered the 12 Step programs either Fruit but N/A Narcotics Anonymous would probable be a great choice to also help you in your recovery.
I am now in AA and I can assure you my life has never BEEN SO GOOD as it now is with the 12 Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and of course, this fabulous forum!! I look very forward to hearing more from you in the days to come. There are many, many folks on hear to share your thoughts and feelings with and also the chat room. Be gentle on yourself and it will all pass "One Day at a Time" my friend.

Thanks everbody for your words of wisdom. I will be leaning on all of you as I continue this journey. I just returned from lifting weights and I am okay now. Exercise has been my greatest companion these 83 days. In addition to eating right and trying to be a halfway decent member of society.

congrats on your 83 days!!!!!
remember how bad it was when you first went clean and know that you dont ever want to go through that again.
keep up the good work... find a time consuming hobby after work and stick to it. The Gym is indeed the best outlet (in my opinion)

JFruit... A lot on here have turned to exercise. How has it helped YOU??? How does it lifting weights help you keep your mind off of things like that? Does it work after you get home from the gym as well? If not, what do you do then? Congratulations on 83 days!
