Note to myself

Lady,
You can do this, you have survived cancer, you can survive this.
You are loveable, and deserve love, right now, just for being yourself.
Your scars are beautiful and your body is not disfigured
as you are not your body but your soul
Drinking can not take away your pain, it makes it worse.

You deserve all the best. I know surviving cancer changes one forever... for both better (emotional strength) and worse (very long recovery). I have a good friend going through it and I have spent 3 years in cancer research with clinical trials. Cancer survivors are generally beautiful inside and out because they have a different perspective on life. I'm sure this defines you as well. Congratulations on surviving your cancer and good luck / best wishes with what is to come.

Over my lifetime and especially since I quit drinking, I have heard and read many spiritual teachings. I have come to believe that everyone is perfect at the spiritual level. Despite our physical & mental condition, our history, and our addictions, our spirit remains pure. This is where our strength comes from. But sometimes our thoughts & emotions cloud over our inner spirit.

Of course you deserve love. We all do. I don’t know your story but I’m sure that you do many kind & loving things for the people in your life. Make certain that you do the same for yourself. For me, the most loving thing I can do for myself is to stay sober.
