Early in Sobriety

I am about 45 days sober, I just got out of inpatient therapy about 2 weeks ago, I am 27 married w/ 2 children who are 5 and 1 and I have a history of 14yrs with drug use. My choice of drugs are pot, xanax and opiates, i just got finished with a 21 day detox and let me tell you benzos is the worst detox and I never knew it I still am not feeling right, but I know that if I make it through the day get to sleep and wake up the next day without using it does get better. I am open to any suggestions anyone might have for me.

Hi Desiree

Welcome to SR
congrats on your 45 days!

I didn't use xanax or opiates so no suggestions from me - but others will be along
Hope to see you around some more...

Welcome Desiree,

I'm glad you're doing well!

I don't have any advice for you regarding the drugs, but others will be along who can help.

Welcome to the SR community!!

Thank you for staying sober and clean today!

What has worked for me is total abstinence in addition to; going to meetings on a regular basis,
getting a sponsor to guide me thru the Twelve Steps & Twelve Traditions, reading from the Basic text,
writing about what i am experiencing, helping another addict/alcoholic stay clean, and coming here.

i hope that you will discover what works for you and
that you make your recovery a new way of life!!

Welcome aboard Desiree :ghug3

I too was a fan of the MJ, benzos and the big O. Cold-turkey was my choice for detox. I've never taken benzos long enough to become dependent on them so I have no idea what it's like to come off them - I've been told it's the worst. I'm fairly new to sober living (day 10 today) but I'm sure others will have many words of wisdom for you.

Congrats on your sober time, for making the right choices and for joining SR!

You are not alone - that is the main thing.
