I felt horribly empty for the first time since I quit booze 2 weeks ago. Im not tempted to drink for the simpe reason that I didnt entertain the idea at all. ~Is this a normal trend? I gave up booze for 2 months last year and felt a few days of dirty emptiness as well. I would love to be a teenager all over again and make the decision never to have taken my first drink! i wish life could be more straight forward.

Hi Eddie - it's very normal - or it was for me.

I found stopping was always pretty easy cos I was always sick by then anyway - but staying stopped was harder.

Just 'not drinking' was never enough for me.
I had to the fill the void that not drinking created, and stop that empty feeling.

Some people try AA meetings and 12 steps, some try other programmes, others try a fulfilling hobby, some work on their spiritual side, or do some kind of volunteer or service work....

just look around - seek out stuff - find something that helps deal with the emptiness you talked about.
