Hello

Hello.

I have been in an outpatient rehab since January. It was supposed to be an 18 week program, if that tells you anything. I am ready to get serious. "Sick and tired of being sick and tired" as they say. I am very glad to have found this site, and please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place. I welcome messages and thoughts from any and everyone and thank for taking the time to read this. Checking this when I wake up in the morning I think will be much more rewarding than facebook and such.

Thanks.

N

hey there

Hey Alice, nice to have you with us. I hope that you feel you have found the kind of place that helps and supports you.

I am now on day 2 of my recovery/detox. I have meds to help with the withdrawal symptoms, they help a lot but not everything goes.
Just take a day at a time. Take care of YOU.

Thank you, Carol, for making this thread for me. I really appreciate it. And thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. The day is drawing to a close and I have that same nagging feeling, the same feeling that comes over me that I almost always give into. I am struggling a lot at this very moment. Eog, I am with you. My withdrawal now is all psychological. I wish you the best.

Donna, I haven't made enough posts yet to reply to private messages, it seems. But until that changes I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to write me. I means a lot.

Love to All.

Alice, just keep posting honey, and if you are struggling, post some more!!!! Just keep talking to get out of that place. It really does work when you keep putting your feelings down on paper/computer.

I checked into rehab once on a Friday... supposedly for a 'long weekend'.

"You guys will surely be able to cure me by Monday...", I said.

They released me in 'improved condition' 42 days later, lol.

I was like, "Improved condition...? Damn, you mean I'm not cured yet...?"

Welcome to SR.

I feel like I could scream. I can't though, not here. What an anxious and _____ way to start the day. What I want isn't even a temporary solution, just a band-aid, premedicated with poison. I hope everyone else gets started right today, and if so, let me stand next to your fire.

My day has started well so far. Not hung over, not sparking up a joint. My new routine is to read the morning paper, check my email, and be on the boards for awhile. That will probably be altered to some degree when I go back to work, but for now it's working for me. I've also started working out 3 times a week and I take my dog for a nice long walk on my non-workout days. I now get up about 7am without an alarm clock or really any particular reason for getting up that early, instead of lying in bed until 10 or so like I used to, often after a couple of trips to the bathroom to throw up. All in all, life isn't too bad today. Hope your day gets better.

Hey Alice. When you get a craving coming on (like me, it seems you have them in the evenings, even though today I had some pretty f***ing MAJOR cravings in the afternoon), you have to find what helps for you. For me, it's boiled sweets (I eat almost all of a big bag), or bags of potato snacks. Basically it's whatever works for you.
Maybe cranking up the metal or rock on your headphones, and really getting into it. Maybe drawing. Just some suggestions. I'm sure there's other suggestions on the boards.
I wish you the best too.
