Been over 5 weeks

Hello All,

I joined SR a few weeks ago but never introduced myself.

(I have some Social Anxiety so give me a breaK)

Ive been sober for a little over 5 weeks ( I count weeks not days)

I just started SMART Recovery 2 weeks ago as 12 step and faith based programs do not appeal to me.

Had an incident that forced me to face the fact that I indeed had a drinking problem.

At this point, I still have the idea of wanting to be a 'normal drinker'.
Ill give it up forever if I have to, but that's not my first choice.

Have had some pretty stressful times these past 5 weeks, and have def thought, "If i could just have a drink I would feel so much better."

But I am well aware that numbing my pain with alcohol isnt going to make my problems go away... So I dont drink.

Hi otterbearcat. Thanks for introducing yourself and a big welcome to SR. It sounds like you have a great plan for recovery and I've heard some great things about the SMART program.
