Im new, Im 16, and Im on the road to recovery

HI.
Sobriety Date: April 1, 2009
Im 16 and I've been 2 months sober. I gave it up cold turkey and dealt with some serious withdrawl symptoms. After the physical torture.....the cravings got fewer and far between. However, they are coming back with vengeance. I joined this site in hopes of finding people who understand....which I've found so far....I'm here for the support so give me all you've got.

Hi Pearlwolf. I'm in awe of your ability at 16 to see what needed to be done for you to reclaim your life. You found out early on what it took some of us decades longer to realize. As for the cravings, I wish there was a magic answer. I still have them, but I'm motivated by fear of dying if I pick up again. It almost came to that for me. I know you'll find some good advice here. Welcome to the family.

Pearl. You are in the right place. Our sobriety dates are close (mine April 7), but at 46 I have a boatload more of (horriffic) experience with alcoholism. keep coming back and ask lots of questions.

Hi Pearl. Yeah, sleep problems are common for people who quit drinking. Don't worry about it. It will sort itself out over time. The fact that you sobered up at the age of 16 is pretty amazing. Try the sites that Anna mentioned. You'll get a lot of support there also, and perhaps hear from kids who're going through what you're experiencing.
