One year today
One year today
Today my daughter Megan has one year clean from heroin. She did have a couple of slips with alcohol last fall, but with the help of Suboxone and meetings she has not used any opiates. She is doing well and is ready to go back to college this fall. I am doing well and except for a couple of minor slips myself (must learn not to be so critical of her housekeeping) I am finding my life is pretty serene these days. So to all those wondering if there is hope for their loved ones, there is. God has a plan and we must be patient but that does not mean that we can't get healthy in the meantime. Even before she got clean last year, I had learned the value of letting go and accepting God's will in both of our lives. It is really a pretty good way to live Hugs, Marle
Congratulations to everyone in your Family and good for you realizing that even though you couldn't fix Megan and take away her pain, you can take care of yourself. Although I realize that many family members have to let go of their loved ones in order for them to get help, as a Recovering Addict & Alcoholic, I'm always so pleased to hear that the families never gave up on the hope that their loved one can get clean and stay clean.
God Bless You all and give Megan a hug of congratulations from me, a fellow recovering opiate addict.

With all the heartache of addiction, there is such joy when the addict is clean and working recovery. I am so happy for Megan and your family. I am pretty new to the meetings and working them steps is really hard, but I can see that it is helpful I plan to have the same peace of mind one day, right after I fix things. LOL Julie
Congratulations to Megan!
And to you too, Marle!
If anyone had told you a year or two ago that you would worry about Megan's housekeeping skills more than anything, what would you have said???
Recovery looks great, on both of you!
