Smile Music, Serenity, Cooking

I dusted off my turntable and played some Jazz I have had on vinyl from a quarter century ago... Music I listened to ALL the time... before the seeds of alcoholism had begun to germinate...

The music brought back the old feelings/thinking ... SERENITY ... I had once, and hence, I had serenity again... cooking burgers on the grill, Sprite Zero where the beer would have been...

It was all good.

Mark

Excellent. Yes, I do think that music can really bring back powerful emotions which can help take one through the toughest times. Emotion is so much stronger than will power, and music has the captivating ability to move the emotions.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and I think just for that, I will go to youtube or my itunes and check out some of my pre-addiction music

thanks

Padionk.

Ah, music to soothe the savage beast. I just finished converting all my old vynyl to my computer with a USB turntable.

Because Jazz and many nights at Birdland in NY
were woven into my fun drinking history....
I gave away my 78's...33 1/3's...and cassette tapes.

It simply made me miss drinking times before addiction.
.....so it was wise for me to not listen.

Yes...I have replaced some with MP3's and CD's.
One of the unexpected joys of recovery....Jazz!

Thanks Mark....for sharing your happy time with us

Great post Mark!

Back in the days of the betamax (google it Padoink;-)) my first vinyl was frankie goes to hollywood...it was the 12" version which meant that it was the extended version of the original song (i'm sure you know this!) and the song was WAR! Somehow it does not sound the same on mp3!!!!!!!

That was 21 years ago lol!!!
