Thumbs up TOPIC: SR Has Smart People Here. Educate & Learn About About Ur Addiction.

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to take a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

Did you know we have lots of
educated and smart folks here in
SR?

Just because we have an addiction
to drugs or alcohol doesnt mean
we are dummies. Right?

I graduated from HS and went to
LSU for a few yrs sitting out several
semesters because i wanted to play
instead of studying.

While still playing i managed to work
as a Teller, get married, have 2 awesome
kids, stay married for 25 yrs, go thru
rehab for 28 days , stay sober for 18 yrs,
remarry, get tattoos and learn to ride
a motorcycle. Now im getting ready
for a hip replacement.

I did all that because i learned about
my addiction and not just stayed sober.
I live sober. One day at a time.

And i continue to pass on that knowledge
of recovery that was so freely passed
on to me.

How about you?

ooh i was wondering about you sharon and when you would post another lovely topic for us

I always used to think of my intelligence as a positive character trait of mine but now that I look back I think differently. During my active addiction I used my intellecutal ability as a justification for why I could never get an addiction, how I was just experimenting because I managed to get my undergrad degree from NYU and surely no junkie could do that! Then when I realized I had an addiction problem for a very long time I thought I could think my way out of the problem and be able to use my mind to overcome it with researching the subject and coming up with strategies to either moderate or abstain from it.

We all know how that worked out for me :\

These days I have a lot more humility and am no longer the arrogant, mean-spirited, manipulative person that I once was.
