Finally got my a$$ there

I just returned from my first AA meeting, back on day 1, and for those interested, newcomers and doubters, I will in a few words share my experiences:

I always thought I could do this by myself. I can't! I also doubted the 12 steps, and the religious bias as a basis or requirement for recovery. I was nervous and unsure what to expect when I went there, but I was very warmly welcomed.

The fact is that I met a bunch of great people. I strongly recommend to try it for those who haven't. There is nothing to lose. It seems to me to be a great way to not having to be alone with your guilt and your fear, sharing with people who have been or are were you are, plus of course you don't drink there .

I was very positively surprised and it gave me a new perspective on my recovery. I will go to tomorrow's meeting.

I am so glad you had a positive experience!
That has been my experience in the rooms of AA for the last year.
I keep going back and have not regretted it!

I'm glad that your experience with AA has been positive - that has also been true for me. Welcome back to recovery, a day at a time.

Thanks all,

I know it may not be the solution for everyone. I have read so much about it, but never dared to go, but now I feel better and more hopeful than in a long time after I went.

I'm so glad you've found some face-to-face support and that you feel so encouraged.

Keep going with it. Living sober is one hell of a ride, and so very worth it.

Please keep us posted on your journey.

Big hug,

Donna
