I am a new member to S/R.com I have been sober since 7/12/08. I am Alcoholic and was turned on to this by my sister ( rella927 ). Looks like a really cool site. I have battled this disease for the last 12 years, having a little over 3 years clean back in the late 90'S but the wife split after 22 years and I said the heck with this and went back out. That was in 2001 and I have been battling ever since. 4 DUI's with the last 2 coming 6/25 and 7/11/08. I had a spiritual experience while hospitalized after the last one. I was taken from jail to the hospital because I had gone into DT's and I hallucinated for 3-4 days but remember them vividly, should of bottled them. ( Joke ) I hope those of you out there will say a prayer for my sobriety as I will for yours. I have alot of insight into this disease and am more than willing to share it. I am at the mercy of the computer in the library, but I try to get here everyday. I am also a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and will be going to their 28 day in-house rehab to satisfy the Court,( out of jail since 2/28/09):praying but I was the one who asked the Judge to go. They wanted to send me to Prison for 30 months but he was kind enough to give me County time and unbelievably did not take my Driver's License for life. A gift.

Thanks for your story. I am new here and have also had long bouts of sobriety but then slipped back into my bad habits. Sounds like you have a good base under you and that is amazing, you should be proud. I am back to my first week after some "large speed bumps" as my husband says... so keep up the amazing work life will only get brighter!!
Welcome, Wolf!
My own sobriety (16 months) has been quite a journey and despite the occasional challenge along the way I know that drinking is a one-way ticket back to my own personal hell.
There are so many resources available to alcoholics but we have to reach out and use them. My Higher Power, AA, SR, and family are the pillars of my recovery. Gotta do the work though!
My best wishes to you and your sister.

Welcome to our site, I'm very glad to have you join us. It sounds as though you are working hard at building a firm foundation this time around, and that's great. My very best to you, and I look forward to reading more of your posts. Rellz is a doll!
Hello Wolf - so glad you've joined this very special family we have here. It's wonderful you're going to rehab. It looks like we've traveled similar paths - I too was sober from 1997-2000 (not a drop during that time.) Stuff happened and I started up again in 2000 and "came to" in 2007. Oh, the damage done that second time around. I also had two close together DUI's. Mine were one day apart - I win! Please let us know how it's going for you. You seem determined. (Thanks for your service to our country.) Joanie

I'm glad you found SR. I came to SR after being sober about 4 mos. I am also a recycled drunk. I have found that SR has helped me to grow in new ways with this sobriety.
I hope you will find the same support from the people at SR as i have (hug)
