a ray of sunshine
I want to thank everyone for good thoughts and inquiries.
Just wanted to give everyone an update.
It has been 2 weeks, and my son is still clean. I have watched him return to the person i love and respect. i realize this is really hard for him, but my chris never ceases to amaze me. Every day is a new beginning for him as he has slowly evaded and cut off all ties with his previous drug friends. He has stayed close at home, working on various projects, and sticking close to his father. Once in a while the Master Manipulator comes out, only with me, as his dad will not tolerate it, but i calmly put all the blame and crap right back in his lap. I am not responsible for his problems and actions, only here to help him thru.
We had the company picnic yesterday, as he and his dad did all the prep work on Friday, and the cooking yesterday. It was such a success and everyone enjoyed seeing those 2 together, laughing and cooking and socializing. I just had to sit back and thank God for giving me my son back. Everyone was so happy to see him, smiling, talking, looking good. His coloring has returned as he does not look like an emacipated druggy. He played football, his love, and i just sat there and let it all soak in.
But the most amazing thing was the President and CEO of the company spent a long time talking with him. And he later informed me that he will be joining the company in 2 weeks, as an engineering helper and estimator. And will have to attend college during the process. As he is telling me this last night, I asked him if he was sure. This is his decision and can't wait to begin.
I still will not take any of this without skepicism. I know fully what my son is dealing with and without professional help, the odds of his recovery are slim. But i do have faith in my son, and will let him deal with this on his own as long as he is clean. He has overcome so many huge obstacles in his young life, with such ease, i can only hope he will overcome this one also. Only time will tell.

Susan, It is so wonderful to hear good news. Thanks so much for keeping us posted, it's always great to hear another success story. Your son is young enough to fully recover and live a normal and healthy life. Just keep an eye on him. Sounds like he is on the right track. He has a really good mother who loves him so much. He is totally blessed. Looks like GOD heard you calling.

I am so happy to hear that your son continues to do well. Enjoy every moment! My AD is also doing well. She is still living at her sober living home and has found a job, sponsor, and enjoyed shopping with her hard earned pay check. I am enjoying every moment!
