Thumbs up TOPIC: Scared? Afraid? Full Of Fear? Parallyzed? Can't Move On?

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

Are you scared? Full of fear? Feel
parallyzed? And you cant move on?

From the moment i was born fear
must have been present because
it has followed me all my life.

Fear instilled in me thru physical
and verbal abuse at the hands
of my mom. I literally could not
move when going to sleep or she
would have hit me. She dared me
or else.

A failed test meant the belt was
waiting when i got home.

How about stopping the car and
ordering me, a small child to get
out and walk home. Or being pulled
from ur bed in the middle of
the night and put outside for
coughing.

Fear instilled in me from far back
as i can remember.

Today i still have fears. Fear
of getting on the road to drive
to a new place. Fear of meeting
people. Fears that parallyze me
to where i want to isolate.

Fears that make me extremely
anxious where my heart beats
90 to nothing.

However with an awesome program
to follow day by day, im able to
conquor some of those fears.

Each time i face one of those fears,
my courage gets stronger. I become
willing to face those fears one
step at a time.

Right now my husband is waiting
for me to say lets go riding on my
scooter. Well guess what, im scared.

Why? Because ive never ridden one
before. I took a riding course last
yr and was proud of myself for
learning how to ride a motorcycle,
somewhat. Esp. for someone who
never learned to drive a standard
car.

This little scotter is automatic and
does have a trike kit added for balancing.
That takes the fear of falling off it.

However it needs a tune up and im
afraid of it stalling in the middle
of the highway.

I cant take it out yet alone till i
practice and get my endorsement.

Practice is all i need to get over
my fear of riding it and it will
happen....soon.

Are u scared of anything? What
is it?

The fear that I am working on is fear of the future - heath, economic uncertainty, failure. For me, it seems to come down to acceptance - I am an imperfect human being (quit expecting to be perfect) & right now everything is just fine. What more can I ask for? Life is good.

I searched for inspirational quotes that kind of explain the way I feel and I found these:

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do. - Eleanor Roosevelt

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow. - Mary Anne Radmacher

If God wanted us to be brave, why did He give us legs? - Marvin Kitman

I got a smile out of that last one.
