i need help.
This is the deal. i no longer trust myself with alcohol. Ive known this for a while and have avoided taking steps because i was waiting for "some day". I cant garantee the outcome anymore when i walk into a bar. i do not stop drinking until im drunk, or out of alcohol/money and the sun is comming up. Im going to hurt myself or someone else with the car, my lack of inhibitions or my actions toward the people i love because im too hungover to think straight. "Some day" is going to come with me in the hospital, jail or in a box. Not if... when. Today, I awoke late and slept through something i did not want to miss. Im so ashamed of myself. Im drinking alone, heroic amounts of beer and whisky at a time, and driving a car afterward, not even enjoying it as much. It is an escape, one that i can not affort on my body, my wallet or my life. This has been going on a while, (years). I don't know how to be sober some nights. that scares the **** out of me. Im ready learn how not to get drunk, **** my $$ away, almost wreck a car, be romantic sans booze, be not hungover and stay that way, go to sleep without a buzz.... Im a little desperate.
Just don't drink today. Tell your doctor everything, medical detox might be an important step for you. If anything else, if you're not ready, if you decide to keep drinking PLEASE stay off the roads.. innocent people out there will not deserve what could happen to them. Do you have a plan? Next steps?
Hi and welcome to SR! You are in the right place! I know I tell myself that I can always get loaded tomorrow. And when I get up the next day, it's today all over again. The beauty of telling oneself this is tomorrow never comes. It's something I learned in the NA. Consider finding a local NA or AA meeting to attend. You'll be among friends there. I hope you find peace and serenity soon.
Your realizations are a great first step towards recovery!:ghug3

I cant add much to whats already been said...but I will repeat some things...
PLEASE stay off the roads, if you need too, cab it!
Im glad you have realized you need help. Definitely check with your doc about detoxing to make sure you are safe.
Welcome to SR, hope to see ya again soon.

Definately stay off the roads while drunk, I learnt that first hand. I know it has been said many times on here but do take it one day at a time, when you start doing it you will realize the power in it. I wish you the best of luck on your journey to sobriety.
