Thumbs up Hello - I'm new as of tonight

Just wanted to say hello and look forward to good discussions and some mutual support. I'm sober for 2 days and looking forward to 3 in the morning! My first shot at giving up the wine after 10 hard drinking years.

First thing I have to do is complete this WD situation. Not going too bad with some determination, not having to work over the holiday, lots of fluids and vitamins and several prayers. It's not real fun, but I'm surviving and my will remains strong. Once this cleans up a bit...next step is find a suitable long term program. Suggestions (with regards to a program)?

Alcoholics Anonymous is always a good thing to check out.

I'm new here too. I also loved drinking wine (I'm a binge drinker). I just completed my 28 day program at Hazelden on Monday. If you are looking for an inpatient treatment program Hazelden is amazing. The success rate is high and many other programs are based on the Minnesota Model. The program treats not just the addiction but every other aspect of your being. I had to look at where it all began and make a moral inventory of my life in order to get to the root of the problem. Going to AA would not have been enough for me. I wasn't strong enough. I wish you luck in your recovery. If you do start AA get a sponser to hold you accountable and they will take you through the steps. The first three were the most important for me.

Thanks....facing Easter sober! Haven't talked to Christ sober for almost 10 years (in fact, you don't talk much when you are always drunk at night). Cheers for the support...day 3 and heading toward 4! Look forward to adding some support or encouragement to anybody facing the early days and the WDs... ZehnJahre

Witt - Hard to say I didn't get a little emotional with your note...34 days I can only dream of and if I can stay sober (and I will), perhaps I can finally get around to having the long time dream of my first child. Good for YOU! ZehnJahre
