Newcomer all over again
I have been like a ping-pong ball in the program so my sponsor said that I should start over as if I know nothing because I cannot practice step 1 perfectly, any suggestions?
Welcome to SR, Starreye!
I am glad you are here
have a look around; lots of good information, stickies at the top of the page, and some great support here...
suggestions?....step one, step one, step one.....

I wonder why ur sponsor said that to u.
I was on a roller coaster ride of ups
and downs after I took my last drink.
Admitting I was powerless over alcohol
and my life had become unmanageable.
Were u powerless over alcohol or drugs?
Or powerless at not admitting it?
I dont understand.
As long as u dont drink or drug,
then it just takes time to learn
to not be powerless over other
things. And sure ur life will be
unmanageable for some time.
I havent found it necessary to
pick up a drink since 8-11-90,
but that doesnt mean im cured.
I have to take that step everyday.
And sure im powerless over myself.
My life still becomes unmanageable
at times so thats why i use those
steps in my everyday life to guide
me to living life happier and free
from that addiction of alcohol.

I bounced in and out of the Program for 25 years to be exact. Although you haven't shared really much of anything with us about what you mean by ping ponging, (when you are comfortable enough with us, share as much as you like) in some ways, I can understand some of what he/she's saying, but then, no one can work any of the Steps "perfectly." That's the word that I don't like. Is that the word he/she used, perfectly?
