Michael J. Fox
Michael J. Fox
As some of you know I am a book freak and Michael J. Fox has a new book out this week, which I can't wait to read. It's called 'Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable (pun intended) Optimist. I loved his last book called 'Lucky Man'. He became alcoholic after his illness was diagnosed and his journey is wonderful.
He is on the Oprah show at the moment and if anyone wants to be inspired, tune in. He is so amazing, self-deprecating, funny and spiritual, it is such a joy to listen to him. He says clearly that, for everything he has lost in his life due to Parkinson's, he has gained more.

It was right after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's and he just isolated himself, was very depressed and began drinking. He talks about it in his first book.
Finally, his wife told him she wouldn't leave the children alone with him anymore and he needed help. He got the help he needed and never looked back.

Anna I want to get that book too! I read the other one and he has truly been a man that I have admired for years! Amazing just truly amazing!
I have always liked him, and admire the way he is handling his Parkinson's. When you mentioned the book I did some poking around on the net and have to say that he does try to stick with the 11th Tradition but this statement kind of gave away how he is staying sober:
I think I will go out and get the book, sounds darn good.
” I met my friend on that Monday and over the following days, months and years, she along with an ever widening circle of new friends, all of whom prefer to remain anonymous, showed me it was possible to live a life without alcohol” ( Lucky Man, Michael J. Fox, p. 162)
Thank you so much for the post.
I need to read up on the subject. My uncle that passed away last month and my other uncle both have parkinson's.
I notice a lot when, I'm trying to set down my coffee, I'm trembling. Hoping, this is the not the first signs
