New problem
New problem
Hi everyone,
It seems I have a new problem, one that I never thought I would encounter.
We talk alot about taking care of ourselves. Doing nice things for ourselves and meeting our own needs. Well, I have put together such an extensive collection of "good things" to do for me that I often can't decide!
Do I take a bath and read? Do I watch an old movie? Do I come here? Do I sit in my new sunroom and flip through decorating magazines? Do I rock on the front porch with a novel? Do I take a walk with the dog? Do I go to DQ for a Blizzard or do I work out in the basement? Hey! I could walk on the treadmill WHILE eating the Blizzard! Does that negate the calories??
While Ward watches sports and drinks and the Beav is sitting in jail....MY life could never be better! This is one problem I wish for all of you!
Hugs and gratitude,
JT

Now this would be a wonderful "problem" for anyone, but when you stop and consider the list of "things to do " that it replaced, it is a miracle.
My old list used to consist of checking for stash, reading cell phone bills, worrying, thinking of all the "what if's", worrying some more, isolating, pacing, bailing out, visiting detox/jail/program, losing sleep, trying to catch up on sleep...well you've been there so you know.
Like you, my list is also so much more wonderful. Today I am going to take a nice walk, do some gardening, cook something terrific (we got hit with the blackout and I have avoided meat and groceries until I felt they were safe), and arrange to go visit a couple of old girlfriends this week for a couple of days.
The funny thing is, that I recognize that I still have the choice to pick from either list, whether my son is using or not, and I am not even tempted to go to the bad list.
Thanks for sharing this, it helps me feel gratitude for the miracle of working this program.
Hugs

Decisions, decisions
I love your new problem JT. I highly recommend eating the Blizzard while on the treadmill. It's like jogging to the doughnut shop. Thanks for reminding us all that we have "good" things to choose from.
Peace,
Gabe

Oh, this is wonderful!!! I want to sit here and write a long response, but I'm already commited to doing a different nice thing for myself. Movie and coffee with my galpal.
Great thread JT! Can we hear what nice things all you guys are doing for yourselves? If you're not there yet... what are you THINKING about? Do you have any "If he/she would just (blank), I would (blank)."s ?? Go (blank) today!!!

Love it JT!
For me, I just finished a wonderful cup of herbal tea, while waiting for time to leave for the movies. Me and the kids are all going. Squinty hates them, and that's fine--we didn't want him to go anyways!
Geesh--perhaps we'll visit DQ on our way home! Sure not going to feel guilty about all the laundry piling up! It'll keep. Squinty is at the our family reunion-turned-beer party. He doesn't drink beer when he is drinking, but I suspect my sister-in-law (who has been drinking since 1:00) will be able to find him something else to drink--if he can't hold out. He "quit" June 11, but has drank a few times since.
But I don't care! 'Cause I can't change him, and--hey--I'm going to the movies! We're going to see Freaky Friday. Can't wait!

This is a great thread!
I had a very full, all about me day. This morning I visited my brother, checked out a dance class that I'm considering taking, and met two of my best friends for an afternoon of scrapbooking. It was a long day and I'm tired, but it felt so good to be out and about, all on my own, with no worries or concerns for anyone but me!
