That didn't take long!

Well, the 18th was my first day. Yesterday a friend came over and I had a couple of beers. So today is day one.

My mind was telling me to not do it, but something made me shut the noise in my head and the next thing I knew I was popping a top.

Since I started reading and posting on SR, I find that today I didn't beat my self up about it. I could come to SR and chat with friends and see a new day. I know now what they mean by one day at a time. It truly is "One day at a time."

I'm going for two days of sobriety. Take that Budweiser!

Dave

Congratulations Dave. It's hard starting out. Not drinking I mean. I quit a thousand times and nothing worked until I saw that I needed to change from the inside out. I hope that you'll find what it is that makes you want to drink and then find a way to stop it. There are a lot of ways to stop drinking. Just keep seeking and eventually you'll find what works best for you. Good luck.

Thanks guys,

I think most of the time, I drink out of habit. It's what I do after work. I've been talking to my wife about things to do. I'll get there.

I think that I drink mostly out of boredom....I know, not a very good excuse. I do have hobbies and if I was that bored then I should be making something.
I believe that you will get there too.
Just keep coming in here...read and post, it really does help....I love this place.
XOXO

Anyone thought of using AA to quit drinking?

I find it to be an awesome adventure in living sober.

The main thing is that you are trying to stop, most people just live in denial. It really is one day at a time, but when that day is done and your sober, it's a great feeling. I find that I'm so much more productive in my work now that I'm done with drinking. Good luck on your journey.
