Hey folks-
I decided this is the day for me to quit (after 25 yrs). Decided to do it at home and try to bear it out. late in the morning i had a bad panic attack and checked my blood pressure- it was 200 over 119 (usually 135/72)- which is extremely high- surely from withdrawals. been in emergency room all day, they told me i was in easy stroke range. I did tell them about my drinking and they gave me meds for the next 5 days to get through my quitting... I guess i am telling this to anyone planning to stop cold turkey- the advice on getting DR assitance is critical. I might not be typing this right now if I had not gone.

You are not alone. Take good care of yourself--glad you went to the DR. Alcohol withdrawal can indeed be deadly. Thanks for the reminder. Glad you are ok.

thanks folks- I am going to give it all i have to quit. I have had enough. forgot to tell you they had to pull out the defibrillators (with the loud alarm beeping on the machine- my pulse went to 38 at one point... my and wife was in the room, and pretty much lost it...another reason for me to get my act together...
