Friday Afternoon

Well its friday afternoon in Sydney and normally I am well into this drink by this time of the day. I am going to be good and stay dry and spend as much time here as I can.
I am feeling good, though had to refuse an invitation to a St Patricks day lunch at the Irish embassy, there would be too much guinness and jamesons and I am not strong enough to face that.
Hope everyone is well and your appreciate your support to stay strong.

It sounds like you're off to a good start. I've had to stay here alot of times on the weekends. It's getting easier but I still post for support if I feel I'm on the verge.
I'm hoping for some good conversation and chatting here this weekend!
Stay strong!

Good plan Marty.
I spend a lot of time here and it helps me keep on the right path.

Weekends were never particularly hard for me. WHy? Cause I drank 24/7 and it made no difference what day is was. So far it sounds like you are off to a good start. Keep it up! You can do it!

Keeping busy in early sobriety helped me immensley.

I did have to make changes by not accepting
invitations from drinking friends.
As all my friends drank excessively ...
that made me feel lonely.
I too was in a city full of interesting things.

Then I found an AA group of mostly singles
They were living the life I desperately wanted.

Soon I had new sober friends to hang out with.
We did everything possible without alcohol.
hikes...Movies...Dining ...Dances...Sports...we had a blast!

Recovery is so much more than the absence of alcohol.
It gives me purpose...joy and a clear mind.

Glad you are sharing with us
