A Day Without Drinking
I am on day seven since my slip. I had 60ish days prior to that. Today my husband and I took our children over to my inlaws home for dinner.
I was able to sit back and watch as my husband's father had glass after glass of wine. My husband does not drink.
I was a three glasses a night gal and it was hard to watch. They don't know that I have a problem only that I quit Jan 1 of this year. I did explain that I did not think it was normal or healthy to drink every single day. Yet tonight they offered. I had no problem saying no because my slip made me feel so bad that I think I will remember it forever.
That being said, I found myself wishing I was normal. Wishing that I would not feel so crappy after a few glasses of wine. Wishing I could enjoy myself.
And then reality hits. Why on earth would I need wine to enjoy myself.
The way this disease messes with your mind is just amazing.

I'm glad you got through the dinner.
Yes, I definitely think addiction is a disease that messes with your mind. When you can recognize the addict voice for what it is, it's a big step forward. When you hear the voice, dismiss it and move on.

Hi Imagine,
Actually I think it is not normal for humans to drink alcohol. Outside of mammals eating rotting fruit, no other species on earth except man manufacture a poison made from natural products to consume.
Stay the course and have a great day!
