New Here

I'm new here, not sure if I'm even doing this right. I've been drinking steady for a long time and have hidden it brilliantly. Some recent events have sent me in a huge emotional spiral and i'm really drinking heavy, for the most part still keeping it fairly hidden, i haven't been able to eat very much since the said recent events. i feel like my face is tightning up and seems kinda red. i'm just wondering if i've ruined my liver.... just trying to survive the next couple of week, where maybe i can start excersising again or something. any info would be helpful!

Hi there defo the right place to be! Would it be possible to get a discreet visit to the docs organised if you are worried? Have you tried anything to give up drinking before?

i think this was to me? Anyway, i've never tried to really give it up.. always thought i was managing it as good as could be expected and it'l get better... i've had times where i would excersize alot, diet and not drink very much, seems to have steadily gotten easier to drink at night and get to-go orders, where i can have a couple shots and a beer or sometimes 3, then more at home with no one knowing.... well, thanks for your words. i'll look into seeing the doc

I don't remember my face getting
red, but I do remember my hand
shaking to write a check at the
grocery store.

You will meet all kinds of people
in recovery. Those that lost every-
thing to those incarserated to those
that didnt lose anything.

However we all have similar things
in common. We all were/are powerless
over drugs and alcohol and that our
lives have/had become unmanageable.

We all have tried one time too many
to stop drinking or using on our own
to only fail. We would stop for one or
more reasons to only fail.

We'd stopped for short periods of
time, even yrs. to only pick up
with more avengence than ever.

Those craving become too strong
for us to control that it usually
gets to the point we are powerless
over it.

There are many here that will share
their experiences, strenghts and hopes
with you...of what it was like before
during and after drugs and alcohol.

To give you hope that in time u can
regain happiness and all that you
might have lost providing you begin
taking one step at a time.

Just like I when i went to a 28 day
rehab picking up the tools and know-
ledge of my disease. Learning to
listen and absorb all that I could
at daily meetings I went to.

Becoming willing to go to any
lengths to stay clean and sober
by following suggestions provided
to me.

Today I continue to follow my path
of recovery walking side by side
with each person i meet in recovery.

Thanks for letting me share.

Mgogoo,

I have only been here a short time but I concur with what others are saying. A trip to the docs would definitely be a good thing. I had a full physical done so that I can set my baselines for working out. You might want to have them run some vitamin and mineral tests as well to make sure the alcohol hasn't depleted anything. I am also watching what I eat as well and getting to bed at a decent hour.

Well I better get back to finishing my yard work before dark sets in.

Take care and best of luck on your new journey!

E.

I'm glad you found us. First of all, I would get into your Dr. asap. Not saying that to scare you but it's always best to have a physical when you think there may be a problem. And be honest with your Dr., that is so important. So many Dr.'s today have had patients who have had addiction problems that there's not the stigma there was years ago.

I'm curious as to what you meant by you are trying to survive for the next couple of weeks.

Stick around, hope is found here, help is available.

God Bless,
Judy

Good to know your going for medical advice/tests...

My drinking was causing me mental distress
and I was shocked to discover I could not simply stop.
Yes...
un noticed ...I had slid into alcoholism.

Welcome to SR...

thank you all. Judy, what i meant was that right now i'm so devestated that getting through the day is practically unbearable. I have alot to live for and hurting myself, although a passing thought at times is really off the table! Thanks again.
